For a wireless network you need a router connected to your computer and modem. If your laptop can’t find a wireless network, you don’t have it.

  2. most likely it is not wireless. You you will need is a wireless router the has a 4 port switch. These are very common now a days and run about 40 dollars

See if you can find the exact model number of your netopia product and add it as a note to this question. Many of Netopia’s products also provide wireless access, but you may have to enable it.

FYI, for those folks who travel a lot and want high speed “3G” internet access while on the road for their laptops or their gadgets like an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch, or a Sony PSP/Mylo/PS3, or Nintendo Wii/DS or Nokia 770/800/810 tablet, an Archos 605 WiFi, or even the Chumby… take a look at this article:

its also a good way to get “3G” speeds on any iPhone! and faster than AT&T!

click on the start button on your computer. all your programs and some other windows will come up, one should say CONNECT TO
click on it and it should show your available connections. if you have a wire running from your computer to the box you are hard wired. if you are not wired to anything and are on the internet you have a wireless.
most computers come with a pre installed wireless card, you will have to buy a wireless router for it to work.
